Lukáš Likavčan

Lukáš Likavčan is a philosopher focused on emerging technologies, ecology, and astronomy. He works as an in-house researcher of the Antikythera program incubated by Berggruen Institute, and as an affiliate researcher at Centre for AI & Culture, NYU Shanghai. Likavčan is currently also a fellow at University of Giessen's Panel on Planetary Thinking, where he is writing his upcoming monograph.

Previously, Likavčan held faculty positions at NYU Shanghai, FAMU in Prague, and Strelka Institute, where he also authored his book essay Introduction to Comparative Planetology (2019). He was affiliated as a visiting researcher with Leiden Observatory, Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, and Earth-Life Science Institute at Tokyo Tech. His interdisciplinary work has been presented internationally at venues including CERN Arts, KW Berlin, Tallinn Kunsthall, Sonic Acts, Transmediale, Venice Biennale, Waag Futurelab, Goldsmiths, Cambridge University, Vienna Biennale, and many others.

Besides his academic work, Likavčan often engages as a consultant with private companies, public institutions, and non-governmental organizations. At the moment, he is finalizing the launch of his consultancy company svbstrate.io.
