After Nations: Preparing for the Planetary, lecture by Rana Dasgupta

After Nations: Rana Dasgupta

The third public event of the Geophilosophy of Europe program will host British novelist and essayist Rana Dasgupta on the 21st of November at 6pm.The nation-state system is unravelling: theologically, economically, legally, ecologically. If we are not to lapse into a long "Dark Age", we need to design the systems that can catch us as we fall. Planetary systems, which operate at the scale of our twenty-first-century concerns, and which can turn our globalisation from a gangster racket into a society. Rana Dasgupta, author of the upcoming After Nations, describes the foundations of such systems, how they might be seeded within the present order, and what the role of Europe can be in all of this.

A glass of prosecco will follow the event.
