Markus Lang is a researcher at the Max Weber Institute for Sociology (MWI) at Heidelberg University. Prior to joining the MWI, he was a postdoctoral research associate at the Hertie School of Governance. He received his PhD from Heidelberg University.

His main areas of research are economic and political sociology, quantitative methods and computational text analysis. His current work focuses on the importance of social conventions.
