Ranger Liu

Interdisciplinary artist and researcher, 2023-2024 Berggruen Fellow

Ranger Liu is an interdisciplinary artist, researcher, and musician currently pursuing an MFA in Design and Technology at Parsons School of Design with a focus on sound art and experimental composition. Their creative work investigates theoretical frameworks of knowledge, including astronomy, physics, mathematics, and linguistics, and the ways in which these cognitive structures can be translated into sensorial experiences. In 2024, Liu will join the University of Washington’s Astronomy Department to pursue a Ph.D.

Ranger participated in the first Embodied Machines meeting. Combining their design and astronomy skills, Liu is modeling an exosolar system for the project Life, Otherwise.
